MEDICAL GASES
CSA Z7396.1 MEDICAL GAS PIPELINE SYSTEMS
Analysis under CSA Z7396.1 applies to all facilities providing health care services, in both public and private sectors, which utilize pipelines for medical gases, medical vacuums, medical support gases and anesthetic gas scavenging systems. The standard is applicable to anyone involved in the design, construction, inspection and operation of medical gas systems.
Medical gas contaminant testing is typically required whenever a system has been constructed and commissioned and when a repair, addition or modification has been made to the system. Analysis must be completed by an accredited testing facility.
All CSA Z7396.1 Packages may include some or all of the following analyses: (Limit values are dependent on which version is required)
- Carbon Monoxide
- Carbon Dioxide
- Methane
- Oxygen
- Nitrogen
- Nitrous Oxide
- Atmospheric Dewpoint
- Halogenated Hydrocarbons
- Odour
- Oil Mist, mineral/particulate matter
- Non-Methane Hydrocarbons
Sampling cylinders are available for the following gas mixtures:
- Major component gas = CO2
- Major component gas = NO2
- All other gas types
